[34853] Per 1880 census, his father was from Canada and his mother from Pennsylvania. The Ohio marriage index shows Taylor married Susannah Bean not Beard. Taylor Colwell accompanied Jacob McConnell to Shelby Co., IL and was there for the 1860 census. Later he moved back to Defiance Co., OH.

Since he had no children between 1861 and 1868, this could mean he was in the Civil War. However, I could not locate a military record for him.
